With issues such as climate change, economic crisis and pandemics looming large on the horizon, it is now more critical than ever to equip kids with the right skills so they can confidently and competently become the change-makers of tomorrow. At Twin Science, our quest is to do just that. We wish to affect a positive change in the world by raising double-winged individuals through STEAM education

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Although Twin is only a 5 year old start-up, our journey began 11 years ago in a social innovation incubator. All founders were volunteers and conducted science sessions all around Turkey: village schools, orphanages, blind schools, refugee camps. We organised science workshops for over 20,000 students before founding Twin, realising the necessity for a scientific approach with humanitarian values

What does your innovation look like in practice?

With the knowledge that 40% of current jobs will be lost to automation, and 24 million new green jobs will be created by 2030, it is more important than ever to equip our children with the skills they need to succeed in a sustainable future. Twin addresses this gap by developing children's STEM skills and preparing them for the green jobs of the future. Through the use of a digital app and physical kits, Twin offers a personalised learning experience that caters to each child's individual learning style. The curriculum is designed to integrate scientific knowledge with humanitarian values, ensuring that children who grow up with Twin have the awareness and potential to solve the world's problems and build a better future. Twin has impacted the education of 750,000 children across 67 countries and 1,500 schools. Research conducted by Ipsos revealed that 97% of teachers surveyed believed that Twin STEM Kits Twin App had a positive impact on academic achievement

How has it been spreading?

Twin has impacted the education of 750,000 children across 67 countries and 1,500 schools. Additionally, we are collaborating with FED to develop the United Kingdom's first sustainability curriculum. Twin has been selected as a "Technology Pioneer" by World Economic Forum recently.
For the next 2-3 years, one of our main goals will be reaching out to 1 million children affected by the earthquake in Turkey. Please see the video of our cofounder, Cihan and partner NGO in the earthquake zone conducting workshops with Twin products: https://youtu.be/K8Zjz_XiOG8
