The Queens Gambit Chess Institute

We Are Building Strategic Leaders

Imagine a world where every child has the tools to succeed and uses those tools to spark change in their community. We teach chess in areas where students don't have regular access to education, and we connect them with the resources they need to make a difference. Students learn about real-world issues and use the strategy of chess to come up with achievable solutions.

"Chess has the power to change the world. You just have to learn how to play and start a game."

About the innovation

Life is a chess game. Do you want to play?

Queens Gambit elevates a new generation of strategic, inclusive, and civically-minded leaders through the power of chess.

Since 2014, we have been the leader in quality scholastic chess programming across Western Pennsylvania.

Ashley Lynn Priore founded Queens Gambit when she was just a freshman in high school. The need for quality chess education through a 21st-century model inspired her to teach classes at local libraries and schools. Under her leadership, Queens Gambit has grown into a national organization with renowned programming, partnerships, and innovative strategic consulting initiatives. Ashley is a respected chess player in her own right and is known for making the game sustainable for the future. As a woman in chess, Ashley understands how male dominated the game is and works to inspire women and girls to compete and use the game to empower themselves and others.

Implementation steps

At Queen's Gambit, we say that there is no better way to practice life than to play a game of chess. Chess is going to change the world, so why not get involved?
