What does it mean for Roots of Empathy to be recognised as a leading education innovator in the HundrED Global Collection?
Popcorn! Popcorn is the first thing that pops into my mind in response to your question meaning, different kernels of corn pop to our surprise in their own time and we never know in which direction they are going to land. This metaphor only works if you’ve popped corn on a campfire or on a stovetop. We have had surprising and delightful pops of interest as a result of being included in the HundrED Global Collection. We have been included in the most diverse range of education innovations ever. It’s not just the diversity of countries who make up the HundrED Global Collection but it’s the range of innovations which herald this fourth industrial revolution integrating the latest technologies with current research on social-emotional learning with a nod to inclusion and wellbeing. Being part of the HundrED buffet opens the most interesting dialogue with fellow recipients who not only work with students but also with their teachers, their families and their communities. Roots of Empathy has benefited from being a recipient as funders are impressed by the creativity, scope and the integrity of the selection process and range of recipients, in addition to the fact that it is Finland based, and Finland is the north star of excellence in education. I am proud to be part of this vibrant, future-focused group of education innovators.

What would you say to innovators who are looking to connect with HundrED? Why should they be part of the global community for change?
HundrED is the hippest, most exciting, education-focused fire starter, which is deadly serious about making sustainable changes in the field. Innovators in education need to know where the party is and also need to be present. There has been far too little collaboration in education and not enough megaphones to share successful innovations. HundrED fills this space.
