Our ultimate goal is to empower Indigenous communities in preserving the indigenous knowledge as an effort to raise environmental awareness and encourage participation in cultural and natural conservation. With the incursion of western civilization, the young have come to aspire to the wealth of the western world and all its technology, whilst disregarding their elders' wisdom.
We build capacity for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainability training is an essential response strategy to develop skills for green jobs and should be embedded in education systems and training at all levels to promote clean production and consumption. The current pandemic has reshaped how we look at the world and how we engage with it, particularly in regards to our collapsing food systems. All aspects of the society, including schools, need to understand the importance of educating our children on this issue to bring back the knowledge of how to live with and from nature so the future generation can achieve food resilience. We organize ‘Food Forest Design’ courses which is an 18-week course specifically developed to support educators to create an educational program that integrates environmental stewardship through learnings about the local food and forest systems.
Mother Jungle won the award for Top 50 Companies in Education by the Global Forum for Education and Learning in 2019. Mother Jungle creates short videos of traditional stories of the Indigenous Mother all around Indonesia about their land and environment. The short documentaries are presented on International Festivals like Balinale International Film FestivaI, International Indigenous Film Festival, Bali Ubud Readers and Writers Festival, International Indigenous Film Festival India. We integrate filmmaking in our courses and utilize the power of filmmaking in order to digitally store and pass along the knowledge to the next generation and public. Collecting the stories is a cultural effort to conservation that shares the mother’s voice to enhance diverse values and understanding.
Provide sufficient resources and training of the trainers focusing on Education for Sustainability to bring back the knowledge of how to live with and from nature to future generations. The aim is to bring renewed attention to the storytelling practices of the Indigenous communities, the relevance of traditional stories in a rapidly changing society, and ongoing developments in culture.
