HundrED Partners With The Qatar Foundation To Highlight Innovative Practices Happening In Their Region

HundrED Spotlights create unique opportunities for both educational professionals and partner organisers of the Spotlight to gain a thorough insight into the education innovations taking place in either a specific area of education, like literacy or sustainability, or within a certain geographic location, for example, India or London. First of its kind, both the organisations aim to discover 5 to 10 of the brightest K12 education innovations in the Qatar region. The Spotlight research process will also study necessary conditions required for local schools to adapt learning innovations successfully and multiple ways to best implement education innovations in the region.

We're delighted to announce the launch of the HundrED Spotlight on Qatar in partnership with the Qatar Foundation, to help spread innovative practices happening in the Qatar region.

Qatar Foundation’s Research, Development, and Innovation work contributes to the creation and sustainability of a competitive and diversified economy for Qatar, and are enabling homegrown researchers to address local and global research, and development challenges. Both HundrED and the Qatar Foundation believe that education is the key to many economic and development disparities faced by countries worldwide. There is a need for contextualized solutions as each city or country has its own needs and demands. Such needs and solutions can be understood through both research and practice perspectives, and therefore, the Spotlight hopes to showcase real examples from the region where local educators and innovators are doing extraordinary things for the students in Qatar.

HundrED Spotlights create unique opportunities for both educational professionals and partner organisers of the Spotlight to gain a thorough insight into the education innovations taking place in either a specific area of education, like literacy or sustainability or within a certain geographic location, for example, India or London. First of its kind, both the organisations aim to discover 5 to 10 of the brightest K12 education innovations in the Qatar region. The Spotlight research process will also study the necessary conditions required for local schools to adapt learning innovations successfully and multiple ways to best implement education innovations in the region.

“At HundrED, we truly believe the purpose of education is to help every child flourish, and innovations in education are happening every day,” explains Lasse Leponiemi, Executive Director. “By spotlighting countries like Qatar, we’re able to identify and elevate education innovations with the potential to scale, and inspire a grassroots movement across the world.”

We now invite organisations, school districts, and individuals from Qatar, to submit their education innovation for consideration until January 10th, 2021. Participation in the Spotlight is free for innovators. The call for innovators to share their practices is now open, followed by a selection process where the Qatar Foundation, HundrED and the Spotlight Advisory Board will identify a shortlist. All submissions are thoroughly researched and must meet HundrED’s strict criteria of being impactful, scalable, and innovative, and will be vetted by a committee of global and local experts.

The selected innovations will be featured in professionally produced videos and highlighted in a comprehensive report of the Qatar Spotlight. They will also be packaged on the HundrED website such that they will be easy to understand and implement anywhere in the world.

We are excited to start researching the innovations coming in, and to help share Qatar education innovations with the world!
