Freedom Rhythm was created to help children of all ages process their emotions in a fun & creative way that also includes exercise. Typically, children are not instructed on the topic of mental health until their high school health class which is bland & lacks methodology. FR can be used in the classroom, school counseling, PE, special education, music, team-building, fine arts, & performance.
Freedom Rhythm (FR) is the first & only emotion focused movement protocol to engage the whole body, the senses, as well as the entire brain. FR is informed by the study of neuroscience & uses visualization, bilateral stimulation, positive self-affirmations, & movement with silks to help children process their emotions. Attached to the PE curriculum, FR provides instruction on SEL that is reinforced through creative movement. It helps children understand the importance of mental health & how to process their thoughts & emotions related to their life experiences & interpersonal dynamics. Our emotions possess both cognitive & physical components which is why it is primarily embedded into the PE curriculum, keeping academic instruction at the forefront. However, elements of FR are also used in the classroom as movement improves learning through the production of brain derived neurotropic factor. FR encourages teamwork & gives children performance opportunities that build their confidence.
Children K-12 are the primary focus of Freedom Rhythm. However, it also works to benefit educational staff from teachers to administrators. FR provides professional development that aids in burn out prevention and encourages team building to improve school morale and academic coherence that also benefits the students. Currently, FR is being implemented throughout one of the largest school districts in Texas. This is exciting considering that it was created less than a year ago!
